Sandhills Drops Doubleheader to Richard Bland on the Road

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team traveled to Virginia on Friday afternoon for a Region 10 doubleheader against Richard Bland College. Despite several close battles, the Flyers dropped both matches by a score of 4-1.

In the opening match, Sandhills picked up their lone win at the No. 2 spot, where Jenna Luquer and Caroline Bradford delivered a solid performance with a 21-13, 22-20 victory. The remaining pairs faced tough competition from the Statesmen, with Aydan Bullard and Nikki Lambert falling in straight sets at the top spot. The No. 3 and No. 4 pairs took their matches to three sets, but Lainey Mullins and Reagan Smith as well as Zoey Hall and Julia Emore came up just short. Jacque Holden and Emery Freeman also pushed their match to the brink at the No. 5 position before falling 15-13 in the third.

The Flyers continued to battle in the second match of the afternoon. Bullard and Lambert forced a third set at the top spot but couldn't hold off Heath and Teel in the deciding frame. Luquer and Bradford were unable to repeat their earlier success, falling to a tough Richard Bland duo. Sandhills' lone win came from Holden and Freeman, who rebounded with a dominant 21-9, 21-15 win at the No. 5 spot.
Sandhills will look to bounce back as they take on Southern Virginia University on Tuesday afternoon.
