Flyers Fall to St. Andrews in Home Opener

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team opened its season at home on Tuesday, falling to St. Andrews University in both matches of a doubleheader, 1-4, 1-4.
Despite the setbacks, the Flyers saw strong performances from their top pair, Aydan Bullard and Nikki Lambert, who secured victories in both matches. In the first contest, they defeated Mackenzie Fa'apouli and Kyra Klowzek (21-19, 21-15), while in the second, they battled back after dropping the first set to win 18-21, 21-19, 15-8.
Several other Flyers pushed their opponents to the limit. In the first match, Zoey Hall and Katelyn Bunting narrowly fell in a three-set battle (19-21, 21-16, 15-13), while Jacque Holden and Julia Emore also fought through a tight three-setter before coming up short (17-21, 21-15, 15-11). The second match saw Holden and Emore take their opponents the distance again, ultimately falling 21-16, 21-23, 15-12.
Additionally, in the second match, the pair of Emery Freeman and Kennedy Koziarz delivered a dominant win over Carina Villanueva and Paige Greer (21-5, 21-11).
The Flyers will look to bounce back on Thursday, Feb. 27, when they travel to Catawba College for a tri-match against Catawba and Wake Tech.
