Flyers Defeat Wake Tech, Fall to Catawba in Tri-Match

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team picked up its first win of the season on Thursday, defeating Wake Tech 4-1 before falling to Catawba College 0-5 in the second match of the day.
Against Wake Tech, the Flyers set the tone early with a strong performance. Aydan Bullard and Nikki Lambert secured a hard-fought win in the top pairing, defeating Chloe Stitch and Gabi Carter 21-17, 21-19. Lainey Mullins and Reagan Smith added to the Flyers' momentum with a tight 21-17, 21-18 victory, while Zoey Hall and Katelyn Bunting dominated their match 21-13, 21-10. Jacque Holden and Julia Emore capped off the team's performance with a commanding 21-12, 21-8 win.
In the second match, Sandhills faced a tough Catawba squad and was unable to carry over its momentum, falling 0-5. Despite the setback, the Flyers showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
Sandhills returns to action at home on Wednesday, March 5, for a doubleheader against Wingate University at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
