Flyers Compete in Tri-Match at Spartanburg Methodist

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team faced a tough test on the road Friday, March 7, competing in a tri-match at Spartanburg Methodist College. The Flyers battled in two tightly contested matchups, falling 3-2 to host SMC before dropping a 4-1 decision to Salem College.
In the opening match against Spartanburg Methodist, the Flyers picked up victories at the 3's and 4's pairs. Reagan Smith and Lainey Mullins secured a dominant 21-10, 21-17 win, while Zoey Hall and Julia Emore earned a hard-fought 21-17, 21-18 victory. Sandhills nearly claimed the match, but the 1's and 2's pairs lost in three-set thrillers—Aydan Bullard and Nikki Lambert (1's) came up just short, 21-18, 18-21, 18-16, while Jenna Luquer and Caroline Bradford (2's) fell in another close battle, 21-14, 19-21, 15-12.
Against Salem College, Bullard and Lambert delivered the Flyers' lone win with a strong 21-18, 21-19 performance at the 1's. Bradford and Luquer (2's) fought hard but dropped a tight second set, 21-12, 21-19. The remaining pairs struggled to gain momentum, with Salem sweeping the 3's, 4's, and 5's in straight sets.
