Flyers Battle Wake Tech in Competitive Doubleheader

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team fought hard dropping both decisions three games to two in a thrilling doubleheader against Wake Tech on Tuesday afternoon in Pinehurst.
Game 1
The Flyers saw standout performances from Lainey Mullins and Reagan Smith, who secured a dominant straight-set victory over Maddy Fisher and Mary Barnes (21-18, 21-18), controlling the net and capitalizing on key opportunities. Zoey Hall and Julia Emore delivered an equally impressive win, overpowering Amber Bitner and Marli Vicente (21-16, 21-7) with strong serving and relentless defensive pressure.
In an intense three-set battle, Kennedy Koziarz and Katelyn Bunting fought hard but narrowly fell to Mo Barnes and Skylar Borowski (19-21, 21-16, 15-13).
Game 2
Mullins and Smith continued their dominance in the second match, cruising to another victory over Fisher and Barnes (21-17, 21-12) behind efficient attacking and well-placed shots. The duo's chemistry and consistency kept Wake Tech off balance throughout.
Koziarz and Bunting bounced back in their second match, delivering a clutch three-set win over Barnes and Borowski (21-19, 17-21, 15-8). The pair's resilience in the deciding set helped secure a much-needed win for the Flyers.
Aydan Bullard and Nikki Lambert delivered a strong effort once again before falling in a hard-fought match (21-19, 21-17), and Caroline Bradford and Jenna Luquer took their eagles opponenets to three sets once again.
Looking Ahead
The Flyers will look to build on strong performances and capitalize on opportunities on Wednesday afternoon at home as they welcome the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College to campus for a doubleheader. First serve is scheduled for 3pm.
