Lady Flyers Sign Robeson County Player of the Year Dajsha Fields
Robeson County Player of the Year Dajsha Fields of Fairmont High School has signed to play volleyball at Sandhills Community College next fall.
The 5-foot-11 middle blocker/outside hitter received the recognition from the newspaper, The Robesonian. She also earned All-Southeastern Athletic 2A Conference honors for a Golden Tornadoes team that qualified for the state playoffs with a conference record of 8-4.
Fields led all Robeson County players with 346 kills in addition to recording 146 digs, 52 blocks and 30 assists.
Attending the signing ceremony held at Fairmont High School along with Fields were her mother, Jennifer Morgan, an uncle, Jamie Morgan, Fairmont Coach Michael Baker and Lady Flyers' Coach Alicia Riggan.
"We are excited to have Dajsha join our Flyer family," Riggan says. "She is going to bring height and depth to our front line.
"I loved watching her play this summer at camp and in the fall with her team. She is quick and wants the ball in her hands no matter what the score is."
Fields plans to major in pre-nursing. She has been playing volleyball since the fifth grade. She decided she wanted to attend Sandhills after participating in the Lady Flyers' camp last summer.
"I love every single one of the coaches and love how big they are on one on one," she says. "That is not something you get when you go straight into a big school. Also, the girls were all so welcoming especially KeKe Lawrence (current team member).
