Flyers Compete in Exhibition Against Wingate

The Sandhills Community College beach volleyball team traveled to Wingate University on Tuesday, February 19, for an exhibition matchup against the Bulldogs. The teams competed in two matches, with Wingate taking the first 5-0 and the second 3-2.
In the opening match, the Flyers battled but were unable to secure a win. Aydan Bullard and Lainey Mullins (1's) fell in straight sets, as did Jenna Luquer and Reagan Smith (3's), Zoey Hall and Katelyn Bunting (4's), and Kennedy Koziarz and Jacque Holden (5's). Caroline Bradford and Nikki Lambert (2's) pushed their match to three sets but ultimately came up short.
The Flyers showed resilience in the second match, claiming two victories. Bradford and Luquer (2's) earned a hard-fought 2-1 win, while Bunting and Holden (5's) secured a 2-0 victory. Lainey Mullins and Julia Emore (3's) also competed, while Hall and Smith (4's) fell in three sets.
Sandhills alumni Alyssa Maragelis and Alexis Hinson also took part in the exhibition, competing for the Wingate University Bulldogs.
Emery Freeman, Ashlee Dyer, and Anyssia Mains saw action in multiple pairings throughout the exhibition.
The Flyers officially open their season at home on Tuesday, February 25, with a doubleheader against St. Andrews University at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
