Mirovich Leads Lady Flyers at Mimosa Hills

Mirovich Leads Lady Flyers at Mimosa Hills

Sophomore Danielle Mirovich shot a team-best 81-77-158 and the Sandhills Community College women's golf team posted its best team score of the spring in Monday's second round of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State.

The 77 by Mirovich, and a second round 83 by freshman Taylor Pratte, represented their best 18-hole scores as Lady Flyers.

"Danielle told me that she was going to shoot something in the 70's and I said, 'go ahead'", Coach Herb Pike said on Tuesday. "Taylor's round was incredible. She made three birdies and her score would have been even lower, but she had two strokes added because of a penalty."

All seven of the other teams were NCAA Division I. Elon finished first by 13 strokes over second place Longwood after rounds of 310-299-609. The Lady Flyers finished eighth after scores of 353-335-688.

In addition to Mirovich, who finished in a tie for 21st place, Shirley Ou 79-80-159, tied for 23rd, Pratte 91-83-174, tied for 48th and Morgan McRae, 102-95-197, finished in 52nd place.

The 6,161 yard, par 72 yard layout at Mimosa Hills was the longest course the Lady Flyers have played this season.

Next is the Region X Championship on Monday and Tuesday at Legacy Golf Links. With no other colleges in the region expecting to field a complete team, the Lady Flyer's path to the NJCAA Women's National Championship on May 13-16 in Daytona Beach, FL is assured.
