Watson Leads Flyers With Runner Up Finish

The Sandhills Community College women's golf team will entertain Capital University of Columbus, Ohio on Friday at Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen.

The Lady Flyers opened the spring season at the Flyer Invitational held at the Country Club of Whispering Pines, Pines Course, last Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman Parker Watson of Coach Herb Pike's squad was the runner-up individually after posting scores of 86-84-170. Another Flyer freshman, Amanda Hill, finished fourth with rounds of 86-86-172.  Also for the home team, Daniel Washburn shot 95-93-188 and Tara Locklear came in at 106-106-212.

Led by medalist Shannon Heery, Spartanburg Methodist finished in first place with a team score of 715 followed by Sandhills at 746. Four schools and a total of 12 golfers participated in the event.
