Flyers in Contention After Day One

With Saturday's weather report indicating a full day of rain, an effort was made to complete the 36-hole Mercyhurst Laker Spring Break Shootout Golf Tournament held at Foxfire Resort and Country Club in one day.  When darkness moved in, seven in the field of 67 golfers and 12 teams had not completed their rounds, including the Flyers' Benjamin Read and Watcharakan Chankarn.  Weather permitting, play resumes at 8 a.m. on Saturday with the Flyers in second place, seven strokes behind the leader Mount Olive College.  Read, at 5-under par, trails Rasmus Ronnberg of Mount Olive by one stroke in the battle for medalist honors. Chankarn and Austin May (71-72-143) are also in contention for top 10 finishes.
