Sandhills Leads After Opening Round at Stitch Golf Flyers Spring Invitational

The Sandhills Community College men's golf team got off to a strong start in the opening round of the Stitch Golf Flyers Spring Invitational at Longleaf Golf and Family Club, with the Sandhills A team leading the field by one stroke at +13 (301). The Sandhills B team also had a solid showing, sitting in fourth place at +29 (317).
Individually, Evan Cowell paced the Flyers, carding a 1-over 73 to sit in second place, just two strokes off the lead. Vegas Melen and Will Dement also posted strong rounds, finishing at +3 (75) and +4 (76), respectively. Wyatt Beaver (77, +5) and Landon Cabingas (78, +6) rounded out the A team's scoring efforts.
For the Sandhills B team, Eli Cooksey led the way with a 76 (+4), putting him in a tie for eighth place. Connor Lineberry (79, +7) and Trace Wallace (79, +7) both turned in steady performances, while Robert Reedy (83, +11) completed the squad.
The Flyers will look to build on their strong opening round as the tournament continues.
