Bio
Returning for his 5th year as an assistant coach for the Flyers, Tramaine Pride is coming off another impressive season, with the team finishing 25-10. A former player under Coach Mike Apple at both Pinecrest High School and Sandhills Community College, Pride has played a key role in the Flyers' recent success.
In his first season with the Flyers, Pride helped the team achieve a 21-6 record, earning a national ranking of 6th and a second-round appearance in the NJCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. In his second season (2021-2022), Pride's recruiting efforts helped the Flyers finish 10th nationally and secure another NJCAA National Tournament appearance.
Before joining Sandhills, Pride made his collegiate coaching debut as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer University, where he also served as the head coach of the JV team during the 2019-2020 season.
Tramaine began his coaching career in 2012 with the travel basketball group Pro Skills Basketball in Charlotte. He later became the head boys' basketball coach at Northside Christian Academy in 2018 before joining Cox Mill High School as an assistant coach. At Cox Mill, Pride coached multiple collegiate and professional players, including Malcolm Morgan (London Lions), Caleb Carrawell-Stone, and Wendell Moore Jr. (Detroit Pistons), leading the team to a 28-3 record and an undefeated 10-0 conference run.
"I've known Tramaine since he was a sophomore in high school," said Coach Apple. "I'm incredibly impressed with his growth, both as a player and now as a coach, and in his development as a young man. He has a true passion for basketball.
"Tramaine had a strong desire to return and coach in his hometown. I'm thrilled to have him on our staff. He’ll be a tremendous asset, not only to our basketball program but to Sandhills Community College as a whole."
On campus, Tramaine's responsibilities include facilitating minority outreach (B.A.S.E.), recruiting, leading weight training classes, and academic advising. He currently lives in Seven Lakes with his wife Aysha and their three children.
