Lady Flyers Ink Voyager Academy Libero
Mariah Daffron of Voyager Academy in Durham has committed to join the Sandhills Community College volleyball program this fall.
The 5-foot-2 libero/defensive specialist was a member of a Vikings squad coached by Shelley Dowaliby that competed in the North Central 1A Conference and compiled an overall record of 16-6.
Daffron is also a member of the Carolina Chaos 18 Royal team coached by Abby Hooker. She was MVP of the Monument City Classic held in Richmond, VA in January. A teammate, Mya Mallard, signed with the Lady Flyers in March.
The daughter of Missy and Doug Daffron has been playing volleyball since the eighth grade. She plans to major in Cosmetology. She indicated she chose Sandhills because of its gorgeous campus, its perfect size and because it felt like being a part of a family.
"We're excited to have Mariah join our program," Lady Flyers' Coach Alicia Riggan says. "She is extremely fast and vocal on the court. She doesn't mind laying out for a ball at any time.
"She has an aggressive serve as well. Having played with another teammate they both will bring chemistry to our Flyer Program.
