Lady Flyer Signee Camryn Lowe About to Fulfill Prediction
Sandhills Community College Coach Alicia Riggan recalls being the guest speaker at a middle school athletic banquet some time ago when a seventh grader named Camryn Lowe approached her afterward.
"She came up to me and introduced herself", the coach said. "She shook my hand and said, 'One day I am going to play volleyball for you'. Here we are four years later and that dream is going to become a reality."
A junior at North Moore High School, Lowe recently signed to play for the Lady Flyers, joining a long list of players from Riggan's alma mater that have contributed to the success of the program. She is finishing up her Sandhills Promise class and will meet the other academic requirements to graduate a year early from high school.
The 5-foot-8 setter is the daughter of David and Connie Lowe and was coached by Crystal Hicks at North Moore. She plans to enroll in the Associates in Arts program and join Mustang teammate Alexus McCrimmon on the Lady Flyers this fall.
"This has taken such hard work and is such an honor on her part" Riggan said of the early graduation. "Camryn is a leader and has such great hands. She can also be utilized as a hitter when she's on the front line.
"We are excited to have her join our Flyer family and to see her transform as an all-around player."
Lowe has been playing volleyball since she was in the seventh grade. Club activities she has been involved with while in high school include: Future Historians, FBLA, Key Club, HOSA, and SGA (Student Government Association).
The friendly environment, the opportunity to work with coaches that teach effective skills and the winning program were reasons she gave for choosing Sandhills.
Last season's successful Lady Flyer squad included North Moore alums Tee'Ashia Lilly, Jordan Ward and Kiana Brown. Going back to the inception of the program in 2008, the distinguished list includes NJCAA All-Americans Miranda Love Thomas (2010) and Paige Garner (2017).
