Lady Flyers Quiet the Storm - Region X Tournament Next at Patrick Henry on Saturday
The Sandhills Community College volleyball team improved to 21-3 with a 25-20, 25-17 and 25-19 non-conference victory at Davidson County Community College Wednesday evening.
The Lady Flyers also extended their program-record winning streak to 16 matches and improved to 9-1 against NJCAA Division II squads this season.
Kaitlyn Lisenby led the way in the hitting department with 15 kills. That tied both her career-high and the Flyer team-high this season. Setter Abby Wallace was credited with 36 assists and 11 digs. Libero Shaedyn Housh contributed a dozen digs. The Storm dropped to 3-11 with the loss.
Next for Coach Alicia Riggan's squad is the Region X Tournament on Saturday at Patrick Henry CC in Martinsville, VA. They are expected to play at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The winner advances to District H play on November 2-3.
The Flyers also have a regular season match remaining against Johnson and Wales in Charlotte on Monday, October 29 at 7 p.m.
According to NJCAA Division III statistics, several Flyers are among the leaders nationally. Wallace is fourth with 9.69 assists per set and seventh in total assists with 785. Tee'Ashia Lilly is seventh with a hitting percentage of .379.
In the team statistics, the Flyers are fourth in the nation in assists per set (11.04) and ninth in both hitting percentage (.238) and kills per set (11.12).
