Pinecrests' Sayers Signs up for Lady Flyers Volleyball
Last week's commitment from Brooke Sayers brings to three the number of players expected to take the court for the Sandhills Community College volleyball team in the fall that benefited from the tutelage of recently retired Pinecrest High School coach Barbara Foxx.
An outside hitter, Sayers led the Patriots in kills last season. She made the All-Southeastern Conference team and was the Pinecrest team MVP. The daughter of Randy and Patty Sayers plans to take pre-veterinarian courses at Sandhills.
Pinecrest teammate Abby Wallace committed to the Lady Flyers last December. The defensive specialist/setter also earned all-conference honors. Returning to coach Alicia Riggan's squad in the fall is another Pinecrest grad, Erica Groff, who earned All-Region X recognition as the Flyer libero last season.
Sayers has played volleyball for seven years and has been a member of the AC Sandhills travel team.
"We are so excited to have Brooke joining our Flyer Family," Riggan says. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and ability to play all the way around. Brooke has been coming to our open gyms for the past few years and playing club ball. We are ecstatic that she chose to play for the Flyers."
"Brooke was always competitive and ready to play," Foxx says. "Sandhills is getting a good player."
