Flyers top Wildcats in Final Regular Season Contest

The Sandhills Flyers went to Charlotte on Tuesday night to face the Johnson and Wales University Wildcast and emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1. The first set was a nail-biter, with Johnson & Wales edging it out 27-25, but Sandhills overcame the slow start, taking the next three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-15.

The Flyers showcased a balanced offensive and defensive performance throughout the match. Dajsha Fields led the charge with 13 kills, while Lannah Huneycutt and Caroline Bradford contributed 6 kills each. Sydney Garner distributed 29 assists and picked up 12 digs. On the defensive front, Ellie Everhart and Caroline Bradford both tallied 2 blocks, and Nicole Lambert managed 16 digs. Sandhills' determination and teamwork proved to be the key factors in securing their 19th victory of the season.

Looking ahead, the Sandhills Community College Flyers are gearing up for the Region 10 Championship tournament scheduled for October 21st at Central Carolina Community College. Their first game of the tournament will be at 12 pm against Patrick and Henry Community College. Should they emerge victorious in this matchup, they will advance to the 2 pm game against the winner of the first game of the day, which will be contested between the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute Cobras and the host team, Central Carolina. The home court advantage in the Hangar this fall has been tremendous for the Flyers and with the Region Championship being such a short distance away, they hope to see a large contingent of Flyers faithful in Sanford on Saturday.
