Lady Flyers Dominate Saturday Double-Header

The Lady Flyers enjoyed a successful Saturday, securing two victories as they swept aside Patrick and Henry Community College in the morning and later prevailed over USC Sumter in the afternoon. These wins elevate the season record to 13-7 for the eighth ranked Flyers and establish a 2-0 season series triumph against both opponents, having previously defeated the Patriots and Fire Ants earlier this season.

Coach Alicia Riggan emphasized the collective effort that led to these victories, stating, "It takes all 18 to contribute to a win, and everyone came in and did their job."

Saturday marked Camp Day, a special occasion where Sandhills welcomed summer volleyball camp attendees to The Hangar.

In the morning's first match against the Patrick and Henry Patriots, the Flyers secured a clean sweep victory with dominant performances in each set, finishing 25-10, 25-16, 25-9.

Outside hitter Dajsha Fields emerged as the team's kill leader with seven kills, closely followed by outside hitter Caroline Bradford with six. Libero Lainey Mullins led the team in digs, while defensive specialist Nicole Lambert shone with six service aces, to lead the team. Setter Sydney Garner orchestrated the offense with 16 assists. Middle hitters Ny'Asia McKinnon and Cassidy Jewett anchored the team's defense with three block assists each.

"We really came together with our communication and energy, which is something we've been struggling with," said Bradford, "everyone really brought it today and I'm super proud."

Following a match between the Fire Ants and Patriots, the Flyers took on USC Sumter and emerged victorious in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-17, and 25-15.

Bradford and Jewett showcased their prowess at the net, leading the team with nine kills each. Garner once again led in assists with 16, while Lambert topped the team with 12 digs. Mullins, Alyssa Maregelis, Jewett, Garner, and Lannah Huneycutt all contributed with service aces. McKinnon, Bradford, and Jewett recorded solo blocks.

"It really helps to build confidence when we can get two great wins like today, and hopefully we can keep it going for the rest of the season," said Bradford.

The Flyers will have a break until Saturday when they hit the road to face Pitt Community College in a double-header against the Bulldogs.
