Lady Flyers win both on Friday at the Flyer Invitational

The Hangar was packed Friday afternoon, as Sandhills Community College hosted the Flyer Invitational, with Johnson and Wales University, Mid Atlantic Christian University, and USC Lancaster all coming to play. The Flyers took on Mid Atlantic Christian University at 12 p.m. and Johnson and Wales at 4 p.m., sweeping both games in three sets.

A huge thanks to the Pinecrest High School volleyball teams, as the Patriots came to watch the Flyers play in the first game of the day, making for lots of fun.

The Flyers got to work early, winning the first game of the day against Mid Atlantic Christian University by scores of 25-7, 25-18, 25-18. Middle hitter Ny'Asia McKinnon and outside hitter Dajsha Fields led the team in kills with six apiece. Cassidy Jewett was the leading blocker with two and libero Lainey Mullins posted eight digs to lead the team.  Setter Emma Brown led the team with five service aces.

After a short break, the Flyers picked back up where they started, taking down Johnson and Wales 25-14, 25-19, 25-12. This win marked the fourth in a row, showing that the team is really starting to gel. Jewett was a monster at the net again in the second game, tallying five blocks. Outside hitter Caroline Bradford led the team in kills with 12 and once again, Mullins led the team in digs, with 15 . Defensive specialist Nicole Lambert was the team's leader in service aces, with four.

The Flyers are back in action once again on Saturday, taking on USC Lancaster at 12 p.m. The Lancers look to be the Flyers biggest challenge of the weekend, as they also went undefeated on day one of the Invitational, defeating Mid Atlantic Christian University in three sets, and Johnson and Wales University in four sets.
