Aydan Bullard Brings Versatility and Energy to Lady Flyers

Aydan Bullard of Lumberton High School is following in the footsteps of a number of other former Robeson County volleyball players by signing to become a member of the team at Sandhills Community College in the fall.

An all-conference and all-county selection for the Pirates, Bullard is primarily an outside hitter, but also possesses the ability to play other positions. A three-year varsity starter, she led her team in service aces and service points, was second in assists and third in digs.

Also a member of the Pirate basketball and soccer teams, her other activities include student athletic trainer, National Honor Society, AISA and volunteering at a Christian camp.

The daughter of Ryan and Tara Bullard plans to major in exercise science at Sandhills and also play beach volleyball for the Lady Flyers.

Lumberton alum Keke Lawrence, who attended Bullard's signing, earned NJCAA All-American honors the past two seasons as a Lady Flyer, and Purnell Swett grad Mackenzie Swett earned All-Region 10 honors this past season.

"I just liked the environment and the welcoming that I had when I first walked into Sandhills," Bullard said in an article for the newspaper, The Robesonian.  "That's really it, just the family feel.

"I've always really liked all the sports I've played, but volleyball stuck out for me. It's a very big dream that I've had since I was a little girl, so living up to it is so cool."

Also in the article, Lumberton Coach Kali Carter praised Bullard for her versatility.

"She's stepped up so many times the last two years for my team," the coach said. "She's been an All-County player the last two years and an All-Conference player the last two years."

Flyers Head Coach Alicia Riggan and Assistant Coach Holly Mandeville also attended the signing ceremony.

"We are excited to have Aydan join our Flyer family," Riggan said. "She is a versatile athlete and very vocal. She can play all around and will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm."
