Lady Flyers improve to 9-1 - Host Louisburg on Tuesday

The Sandhills Community College volleyball team will host a match in the warm confines of The Hangar for only the second time this season when it entertains Louisburg College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Louisburg comes in with an overall record of 1-3 and 0-3 in Region 10. No spectators will be allowed, but the contest will be streamed live.

The Lady Flyers, 9-1 overall and 4-0 in Region 10, defeated Patrick Henry CC 25-11, 25-9 and 26-24 in a non-conference match held in Martinsville, VA on Saturday. Coach Alicia Riggan's squad recorded a season-high 16 service aces in the process.

In complete control throughout the first two sets, the Lady Flyers trailed 24-23 in the third before a Patriot service error, and a kill by Morrigan Denman off an assist by Camryn Lowe, closed it out.

The girls did really well all around in the first two sets, really taking care of business," Riggan said. "We changed the line up for third set to try a different rotation and it seemed like we couldn't find our groove. We had nine kills and seven hitting errors in the third set."

Denman accounted for six of the service aces (no errors) to go with six kills and eight digs. Carley Modlin led the team with nine kills and Lowe was credited with 23 assists. Mariah Daffron accounted for three of the service aces as well as six digs.

"It was exciting to play both Central Carolina and Patrick Henry this week since we are normally in the same region," Riggan said. "We are excited to play at home on Tuesday against another region opponent."
