Lady Flyers Meet Patrick Henry in Important Region X Match on Saturday

Homecoming and Alumni Day at Sandhills Community College on Saturday includes a volleyball triple-header at the Hangar that begins at 11 a.m. with the Lady Flyers facing Patrick Henry CC in a key Region X match.

The Flyers are 7-9 overall following Tuesday's 22-25, 15-25 and 25-27 loss to Johnson and Wales in Charlotte. They take a 1-0 Region X mark into the match against a Patrick Henry squad from Martinsville,VA that is 3-0 in the conference and 3-7 overall.

Coach Alicia Riggan's team has won 21 conference matches in a row since being defeated 3-2 by Patrick Henry for the Region X tournament title on October 22, 2016.

In Saturday's other games at the Hangar, Patrick Henry meets Davidson County CC at 1 p.m. followed by the Flyers against Davidson at 3 p.m. In non-conference affairs.

Carley Modlin led the Flyers with 12 kills in their second loss of the season to a Johnson and Wales team that improved to 10-3. The Wildcats are currently ranked fifth in the nation in the USCAA Division II national poll.

The Flyers made a strong bid to extend the match by connecting on 16 of their 37 attacks, with only one error, in the third set. Camryn Lowe was credited with 23 assists and Willow Williams led the team in digs with 15.
