Shirley Ou Top Finisher for Lady Flyers at Sunoco-Campbell Oil Classic
Shirley Ou posted scores of 77-80-81-238 (tie-36th) to lead the Sandhills Community College women's golf team that finished in 14th place at the Sunoco-Campbell Oil Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
UNC-Pembroke (289-293-306-888) hosted and won the tournament held at River Landing Golf Club in Wallace by 11 strokes over Wingate. Katy Flax of the Lady Braves was the medalist after rounds of 70-71-77-218 on the par 72, 5,812 yard layout.
The golfers played 36 holes on Monday in the 54-hole event. Competing against 13 Division II teams, the other scores for the Lady Flyers included, Danielle Marovich 84-84-84-252 (56th), Morgan McRae 92-88-97-277 (69th), Taylor Pratte 98-92-98-288 (73rd) and Alicia Dunlap 100-101-112-313 (75th).
Next for Coach Herb Pike's squad is the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate in Morganton hosted by Appalachian State on April 7-8. That event will be followed by the Region X tournament at nearby Legacy Golf Links on April 15-16 and the NJCAA Women's Golf Championship on May 13-16 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
