The Hangar

Heins Gymnasium, Dempsey Student Center

Welcome to a rebirth of Heins Gymnasium following a major expansion project to create an ideal campus venue for both Sandhills basketball and volleyball.

The Hangar can seat more than 500 Flyers fans and includes newly dedicated locker rooms, an expanded athletic training facility, and a broadcast booth to provide a greater ability for live streaming video of athletic events. SCC continues to be blessed by the generosity of many donors who made the expansion possible.

The Hangar serves as the base of operations for all SCC athletics and training programs. The Dempsey Student Center opened in 2006 and is truly a jewel on the picturesque campus. The renovated facility provides a brand new look for Flyer Athletics and will serve the community at large as the College expands opportunities for sports camps and tournaments for the time ahead. In addition to athletic facilities The Dempsey Student Center houses a game room, cafeteria, lounge, Barnes & Nobles Bookstore and various offices and meeting spaces.

BB&T committed to a multiyear sponsorship with Flyers athletics to display their logo on the gym floor as well as additional advertising with Sandhills athletics.

Two custom made, interconnected power racks join dumbells, kettlebells, medicine balls and much much more to create a state of the art training facility. The primary use is for the athletic teams and the college's highly successful Health & Fitness Science program. The strength training room is on the same floor as the gym court for easy access.
