Golf Courses

Our student athletes are fortunate to play at some of the finest golf courses and clubs in the world. With more than 40 golf courses in the Sandhills there is always a new experience waiting for our students. The Home of American Golf has hosted numerous national tournaments most recently the men's and women's 2014 US Open's in consecutive weeks on the famed Pinehurst No. 2. Country Club of Whispering Pines

A favorite for our ladies and part of the Brown Golf Management family which also includes two courses at nearby Foxfire. General Manager Rodney Russell and Brown Golf are strong supporters of the Sandhills golf teams. Whispering Pines hosts girls and boys NCHSAA Championships on an annual basis. CCWP includes two 18 hole courses (The River and The Pines Courses).

 

 

Pinewild Country Club of Pinehurst

Home to men's coach Gus Ulrich Pinewild includes two 18 hole layouts along with a nine hole par three - a great spot for a quick Friday afternoon practice - and a three hole practice loop. General manager Chris Little and Pinewild hosts an annual CGA junior golf event to benefit the SCC golf program in February as well as the 2014 celebration dinner for the National Championship team. They also host qualifiers for the US Open and for Web.com tour.

 

Pinehurst Country Club (Course No.'s 1-9)

Home to nine pristine courses includng the famed No. 2 and a fantastic, large practice facility at the main club. Off site courses include No.'s 6, 7, 8 and 9 each with ample practice facilities. In addition to the 2014 back to back US Opens Pinehurst also hosted the 1999 (won by Payne Stewart) and 2005 by US Opens. The Donald Ross designed course first openend in 1907 and was restored to its original condition by Coore and Crenshaw in 2010.

 

Pine Needles & Mid Pines

Site of three US Women's Open and home to our ladies teaching professional Donna Andrews. Both courses are beautiful Donald Ross designs. Pine Needles includes a three hole practice loop along with golf learning center at the back of the main range.

Legacy Golf Links

Home to women's coach Herb Pike and an Arnold Palmer designed 18 holes the course is in Aberdeen just off of highway 15-501. Voted the Village of Pinehurst Course of the Year in 2014 by the NGCOA Legacy was also voted in the top 50 Public Courses to play by GolfWorld’s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Other courses played by the Flyers include: Country Club of North Carolina, Forest Creek Country Club, Southern Pines Golf Club, Talamore Golf Resort, Foxfire Resort & Golf Club, Dormie Club, Longleaf Golf & Family Club & Mid South Club.

According to the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and visitors bureau:

Thirty of the 43 golf courses in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area were rated. Those that weren't did not receive enough ballots because the course was either too new or it was a private or semi-private course.

Only 23 U.S. golf courses garnered the coveted 5-star rating. Pinehurst No. 2 has achieved this distinction since these ratings began in 1992 and is the only course in North Carolina to be designated with the 5-star rating.

All 30 golf courses in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area (100%) were rated 3-stars or greater. Twenty-three of the courses in the area were rated 4-stars or better (76%).
